Expanding global reach strengthens the Foundation’s mission to advance awareness, research and treatment of alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma
The Harry Kazmi Foundation is expanding its global reach through new partnerships with the International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) and the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), building on its existing relationship with the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Together, these partnerships give the Foundation a growing presence across some of the world’s most important communities in paediatric oncology, cancer research and clinical development, spanning the UK, Europe, USA and the wider international cancer community.
For a charity focused specifically on alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS), this global reach is particularly significant. ARMS is a rare and aggressive cancer affecting children and young people, where progress depends upon researchers, clinicians, institutions, patient organisations and industry working collaboratively across national boundaries.
Through SIOP (International Society of Paediatric Oncology), the Foundation has an opportunity to engage with a truly international community dedicated to childhood and adolescent cancer. SIOP brings together paediatric oncologists, researchers, healthcare professionals, scientists and advocates from around the world, providing an important forum for sharing knowledge, advancing research and improving the care and outcomes of children and young people with cancer. For the Foundation, this creates an important connection to the global paediatric oncology community and an opportunity to raise the visibility of alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma within wider discussions about childhood cancer research and treatment.
The Foundation’s connection with EORTC (European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer) strengthens its engagement with the European cancer research and clinical trials community. EORTC has a long-established role in bringing together researchers and clinical investigators across countries to develop and conduct collaborative cancer research and clinical studies. This international approach is particularly relevant to rare cancers such as ARMS, where relatively small patient populations make collaboration across institutions and national borders essential to generating evidence and advancing new treatment approaches.
Alongside these relationships, the Foundation’s existing connection with ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology) provides engagement with one of the world’s largest professional oncology communities, bringing together cancer clinicians, researchers and other oncology professionals and providing access to major international discussions around cancer science, clinical evidence, emerging therapies and standards of care.
